Mike Birbiglia

Mike Birbiglia (born June 20, 1978) is an American comedian, writer, actor, and director.
In his sophomore year at Georgetown University, Mike won "The Funniest Man on Campus" contest earning him the chance to perform at the D.C. Improv.
Upon graduation, Mike took his act on the road, moving to New York City. In just one year, Mike broke into the city's clubs, appeared on Comedy Central's Premium Blend and was chosen to perform in the "New Faces" category of Montreal's prestigious Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, where he was a standout and attracted the attention of the booker for Late Show with David Letterman.
His early career was championed by Lucien Hold, the late booker for the World Famous Comic Strip Live in New York City, who compared Mike to an early Jerry Seinfeld in his style and work ethic.
Mike has a sleep disorder known as rapid eye movement behavior disorder (RBD). Persons with this disorder can unexpectedly get up, walk, punch or kick, and even act out portions of dreams while asleep. To protect himself, Mike sleeps in a sleeping bag zipped all the way up, with special mittens so that he cannot escape when he sleeps.
Many of Mike's stories involve his brother, Joe Birbiglia in one way or another. Joe is usually portrayed as a mooch in Mike's stories.
