Taking Back Sunday

Taking Back Sunday are an alternative rock band originally formed in Long Island, New York in 1999. The band has gone through several lineup changes. Their first release came in 2001 with the Taking Back Sunday EP, and featured Antonio Longo on vocals, John Nolan on guitar and backing vocals, Eddie Reyes on guitar (the original founder of the band), Jesse Lacey, Adam Lazzara and Mark O’Connell replaced Stevie D) they released the follow-up album Tell All Your Friends, which was produced by Sal Villaneuva. The album gave the band a first taste of success in the scene. After the release, they played with bands such as Brand New (formed by former bassist Jesse Lacey) and The Used, as well as performing as a short stint on the 2003 Vans Warped Tour. Another change in their lineup occurred when singer/guitarist John Nolan and bassist Shaun Cooper left the band and formed what is now Straylight Run. Because of these departures, the band’s future was in doubt for some time. However, with the additions of guitarist/vocalist Fred Mascherino and bassist Matt Rubano, the band became stabilized.

The year 2004 proved to be a successful year for Taking Back Sunday, with the band opening for blink-182 and being one of the main headliners for the Vans Warped Tour. In addition, their second album, titled Where You Want to Be, was released on July 27, 2004 on Victory Records. This album had a different sound than Tell All Your Friends. Propelled by the single A Decade Under The Influence, Where You Want to Be went on to debut at the #3 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart, with sales of around 163,000 copies.

Taking Back Sunday is an American rock band from Long Island, New York. The band was formed by guitarist Eddie Reyes in 1999.The band's members are Adam Lazzara (lead vocals), John Nolan (lead guitar, back-up vocals), Eddie Reyes (rhythm guitar), Shaun Cooper (bass guitar) and Mark O'Connell (drums).

The band has released three studio albums with various past members Fred Mascherino (former lead guitarist and back-up vocalist), Matthew Rubano (former bassist), and Matthew Fazzi (former lead guitarist and back-up vocalist). The original Tell All Your Friends line-up reunited in 2010 and have released two studio albums: Taking Back Sunday and their most recent album Happiness Is.

Louder Now (2006) was the band's breakout mainstream album, notably because of the popularity of its lead single "MakeDamnSure." The album has sold over 900,000 copies and peaked at No. 2 on the United States Billboard 200, surpassing the band's previous Billboard 200 peak in 2004 at No. 3 with Where You Want to Be. Before the release of their first studio album Tell All Your Friends (2002), they had released Taking Back Sunday's EP in 2001, when the band featured former lead vocalist Antonio Longo. At that time the EP received very little attention, eventually resulting in the band seeking a new lead singer in, Adam Lazzara, who had at first joined the band as guitarist then leaving a few months after forming, replaced original bassist Jesse Lacey (now of Brand New) during the EP's recording sessions.

John Nolan and Shaun Cooper previously left the band in 2003 only to rejoin in 2010, in time for the band's release of their eponymous album Taking Back Sunday on June 28, 2011. The album was produced by Eric Valentine and released through Warner Bros. Records.

Taking Back Sunday is:

Adam Lazzara – lead vocals
Fred Mascherino – guitar, vocals
Eddie Reyes – guitar
Mark O’Connell – drums
Matt Rubano – bass

Back in late 2001, Taking Back Sunday's founding member Eddie Reyes could only imagine what his life would be like just 3 short years later. With new bass player Adam Lazzara moved up from North Carolina to sleep on his couch and share the Top Ramen, the world was theirs for the taking.
After finalizing the initial line-up and moving Adam to lead vocals the band recorded a few demos and begged anyone and everyone to have a listen. A record deal with Victory Records followed after their demo circulated to an east coast rep of the label.
Taking Back Sunday redefines the rock sub-genre inevitably referred to as "emo", delivering passionate dual vocals and a twin guitar attack that has combines the fury of rock, the intensity of punk and an urgency all their own.

On January 11, 2014, Taking Back Sunday revealed that a new album was available for pre-order on iTunes entitled Happiness Is with a new track available for purchase entitled "Flicker, Fade". Happiness Is was released on March 18, 2014 through Hopeless Records.
