‘Jersey Shore’ star Pauly D was just coming to terms with the honor of being named as the in house DJ to back up Britney Spears at Rain nightclub at the Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, when lady luck smiled at him once again. He was chosen to DJ Britney Spears for her MTV Special program “Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale.”
The budding DJ told MTV that Las Vegas has always been one of his favorite places, and to be able to DJ for a superstar like Britney Spears at the Rain nightclub is a feeling that’s out of this world. He said that being associated with an international phenomenon like Britney Spears has brought him into the A-league of the business and it gives him the feeling that now he is a proven DJ. Pauly also added that playing behind the “Oops, I Did It Again” singer has legitimised his career, and that it was incredible to see her perform and to share the stage with her.
Pauly D has been known to fuse mainstream pop music and underground sound, therefore it didn’t take him long to acclimate himself to Britney’s music. It was also one of the reasons why the Jersey Shore star was selected ahead of all the other big name DJs, all of whom would have loved to back Britney at the Rain nightclub.
Pauly explained that his openness and ability to play modern and latest music was probably the reason why he got the nod ahead of others more known artists. His ability to get the crowd involved and cater to the needs of the listeners is also another huge plus that makes him different from the rest. While he hasn’t made huge inroads into the world of online radio, Pauly certainly has the skills to please the crowds, and more widespread recognition is sure to follow.
He also revealed an underground DJ-ing rule that he has set for himself and his crew. Pauly said that he never plays the material of artists who are scheduled to perform on stage later on the show. Instead, he thinks that the artist himself should take all the applause for his material. This explains why Pauly played Britney’s songs only after her performance had finished. He followed the same self-made principle when he backed Britney once again for MTV’s “Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale,” which featured Britney’s Rain nightclub performance for the first time on TV.
In the “Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale” program, Britney gave her fans an exclusive detour of behind the scenes footage and the process she goes through during the making and recording of her musical content. The program also featured Black Eyed Peas’ will.i.am and a very candid interview with Sway Calloway in which she explained the current junction of her musical career and life.
