The Boys & Girls Club of Los Angeles was presented with the opportunity of a lifetime, as they got to meet with superstars, rapper Jay-Z and Miami Heat basketball player LeBron James.

This happened because the two stars’ joint charity ‘Two Kings’ and Coca Cola’s Sprite decided to renovate the kids’ gym, which will also be decorated by one of Mr. Cartoon’s wall paintings.

Two Kings and Sprite aim to renovate more than 100 parks, basketball courts and fields across the US, as part of ‘Coca-Cola’s Sprite Spark Parks Project.’ page go Jay Z and LeBron James Organize Charity Event for the Third Straight Year  Continue reading Jay-Z and LeBron James Organize Charity Event for the Third Straight Year »

Rocking Out at the Casino

casino strategy Rocking Out at the CasinoA night out at the casino doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to listen to cheesy Rod Stewart songs or bad karaoke from a nearby bar, especially if you’re an owner of an iPod, iPhone, or other smartphone. The 977 Music mobile app lets you take 977music.com with you wherever you roam, making part of smart casino strategy being sure to download the app on your iOS, Android, or BlackBerry before leaving home. Taking your tunes along to the casino might not be for everyone as many people enjoy the social aspect of a night out at the casino, but it’s a nice option to have. Poker players are especially fond of listening to music as they play, as they can often spend hours and hours at the table without much to do after each hand they’ve decided to fold. Listening to “Poker Face” by Lady Gaga won’t give them any edge at the tables but it an definitely take the edge off the boredom that creeps in when they’re not involved in a hand. page go Rocking Out at the Casino Continue reading Rocking Out at the Casino »

Is Britney’s ‘Till the World Ends’ too Similar to ‘Slave 4 U?’

spears world end Is Britney’s Till the World Ends too Similar to Slave 4 U?Britney Spears‘ music video ‘Till the World Ends’ proved one thing: that the pop star is able to dance her way out from any kind of trouble, catastrophe or calamity, including a world-ending apocalypse.

Now even though ‘Till the World Ends’ is based on events that have yet to occur, the theme of her video was definitely nothing futuristic. The tense ambiance, sexy and sweaty on-screen characters and the collection of raunchy dance moves are reminding many of her own 2001 smash hit ‘Slave 4 U.’ The two videos share some similarities that are too striking to ignore. The sweaty bodies, the dirty dancing, Britney’s multiple dress changes are all indications that someone sampled her own stuff. The similarities reach its peak during a scene which is almost identical to a Slave 4 U sequence. The scene in question is the one in which Britney is sitting among a group of dancers, which certainly brought a dose of nostalgia to the viewers that had previously seen the ‘Slave 4 U’ video. page go Is Britney’s Till the World Ends too Similar to Slave 4 U? Continue reading Is Britney’s ‘Till the World Ends’ too Similar to ‘Slave 4 U?’ »

A Note from Jeff, Owner of 977music.com

jeffstudio A Note from Jeff, Owner of 977music.comAs some of you may or may not know, the biggest Internet Radio Company in the US, Pandora, went public in June.  Meaning they are officially a publicly traded company and they answer to the shareholders and bean counters now.  How and what they do next is anyone’s guess.  But someone or something is going to have to feed that money machine in the future, and how they plan to do that is a mystery at this point.

I also wanted to let you know that 977music.com was started back in 1999 because I felt a need for a music service that played the best of the best music from many different genres.  It grew from one channel into what it is today all because of your support.  I still hold those close knit-values of playing the best of the best music today, and I personally program and schedule the music for each one of our live streaming channels.  It’s my passion and it’s what I love to do. page go A Note from Jeff, Owner of 977music.com Continue reading A Note from Jeff, Owner of 977music.com »

International Jazz Day

International Jazz Day is May 28th!

Calling Jazz Music Fans World-wide. International Jazz Day, which occurs each year on May 28th, is a great opportunity to celebrate an unbelievably dynamic music genre encompassing everything from the Bebop to the Blues, and much more!

What is Jazz?

jazz instruments International Jazz DayWhile Jazz Music has only been around since the begging of the 20th century, it has quickly blossomed from it’s humble beginnings into a wide dynamic range of sub-genres, including Bebop, Dixieland, Fusion and many more. The Jazz genre itself seems unwilling to accept a static label and it may be exactly as Jazz critic Joachim-Ernst Berendt suggests, the “spontaneity and vitality of [Jazz] musical production in which improvisation plays a role”; and “sonority and manner of phrasing which mirror the individuality of the performing jazz musician” ultimately makes it a genre that is very difficult to define.

One might go so far to say that each Jazz musician may in fact be creating a sub-genre unto themselves, as skilled Jazz performers will often interpret tunes based on their mood, experience, interactions with fellow musicians, or even the audience’s response and reaction to the music. So if you’ve been wondering why over just the last century we’ve seen the creation of more than half a dozen new ‘official’ Jazz sub-genres, now you know. page go International Jazz Day Continue reading International Jazz Day »

And while the fans may still be getting used to it, the song’s co-producer Fernando Garibay has told the media that he is surprised that the track has been released by Gaga and her team.

Garibay said that while the album’s title track ‘Born This Way’ btn tunein Edge of Glory by Lady Gaga Surprises Co Producer Fernando Garibaybtn addto Edge of Glory by Lady Gaga Surprises Co Producer Fernando Garibaybtn buy Edge of Glory by Lady Gaga Surprises Co Producer Fernando Garibay was a statement song, ‘Edge of Glory’ is a very personal song, in which the singer has put a lot of heart and soul. Speaking in an interview with MTV, he remarked, “It is very personal and very real; it’s a real moment.” The co-producer’s other half on the production front of the song was DJ White Shadow, who had earlier commented that Gaga’s vocal delivery on ‘Edge of Glory’ was very impressive. “This song’s had room for her too … this is her natural tone. The vocal was one take. The whole thing from top to bottom was her, just backstage singing it all the way through,” he had said in a separate sit-down before the song’s release. page go Edge of Glory by Lady Gaga Surprises Co Producer Fernando Garibay Continue reading ‘Edge of Glory’ by Lady Gaga Surprises Co-Producer Fernando Garibay »
