Since her arrival on the musical scene almost 15 years ago, Britney Spears has been on the forefront of the pop music industry. From her cute teen looks to sexy dance track, Britney has done all that could be done while remaining in the boundaries of pop music, and according to her longtime music producer Dr. Luke, his client has now become bigger than the pop genre itself.
During his interview with MTV at the ASCAP Pop Music Awards, Luke pointed at songs like Toxic’ and ‘Piece of Me’ and ‘Oops! … I Did It Again’ to prove his point and said that apart from all of them being influential, they also are shining examples that Britney can’t be confined to a single genre.
So when the duo took to the studio for the creation of Femme Fatale, Luke said that he kept the experimental musical nature of Britney in his mind. He recalled “She wanted to keep on with that and do stuff that was forward-thinking. So we put some dubstep stuff in there, in bridges; snuck it in different places and I hope it ended up good. I hope you like it.”

Since breaking out on the mainstream music scene with longtime pal Dr. Dre on ‘Deep Cover,’ Snoop Dogg has went from being a hot up and comer to a premier hip hop artist and is now enjoying the elite status of a rap icon. The West Coast rapper has always recognized the efforts of those who helped him during his early time in the music industry and in return he has never shied away from lending a helping hand to the newcomers of the new generation, especially who are from the West Coast.
Speaking in a recent interview with MTV, Snoop said that he is very familiar and fond of the new generation of MCs coming out of the West and enjoys the title ‘Uncle Snoop,’ to which he is generally referred by them. He revealed that every now and then young musicians visit him, seeking advice and he connects with them very well. Snoop said that he is always on the lookout for new material that comes from the street and always feels proud of his West Coast heritage.
Unlike Snoop, not all the rap veterans are so fond of the new talent coming up. But that does not deter the upstarts from trying their luck in the tumultuous rap game. They want to follow in the footsteps of legends like Snoop and Dre, but are wary of copying their style too much.

Gangsta rapper Ice Cube may have slowed down in his music production over the years due to his mid career lust for making Hollywood movies and comedy sitcoms, but the rap pioneer is still very much aware on what’s happening around the music world. In a recent interview with MTV, Cube was asked to give his opinion on the recent surge of Los Angeles MCs trying to break out on the mainstream rap scene. The Anaconda actor replied that while he thinks upcoming rappers are being deprived of some much deserved airplay, they are doing all the right things to get noticed.
The rapper Ice Cube, otherwise known as O’Shea Jackson, expressed his unhappiness with the current radio stations. Cube thinks that apart from stations like KDAY, others have stopped supporting the hip hop community like they used to do in the late 80s and early 90s when Cube got his big break with N.W.A.
