The Rihanna-related events of the week included the release of her new ‘Man Down’ video, which was quickly followed by the disapproval of its violent content by several entertainment watchdog groups such as the Parents TV Council and Industry Ears. And now the expected rebuttal from the Barbadian has arrived, with the singer taking to her twitter account to defend her latest video from critics.
In a detailed tweet, Rihanna wrote, “I’m a 23 year old rock star with NO KIDS! What’s up with everybody wantin’ me to be a parent? I’m just a girl, I can only be your/our voice!. Cuz we all know how difficult/embarrassing it is to communicate touchy subject matters to anyone especially our parents! And this is why! … Cuz we turn the other cheek! U can’t hide your kids from society, or they’ll never learn how to adapt! This is the REAL WORLD! … The music industry isn’t exactly Parents R Us! We have the freedom to make art, LET US! It’s your job to make sure they don’t turn out like US.”

Another Rihanna music video and another episode of controversy!
Rihanna’s recently-released ‘Man Down’ music video, in which she is depicted as a rape victim who finds her rapist and murders him in front of everyone, is the subject of some major criticism from the Parents Television Council (PTC).
The video has been condemned by the PTC, which claims that the violence-filled clip shows RiRi in an “implied rape scene with a man whom she later guns down in an act of premeditated murder.”
The PTC along with a few other entertainment industry watchdogs released a statement after the controversial video’s release, condemning the gory contents of the clip and claiming that the video encourages young females to opt for violent methods to get justice. ‘California King Bed’s music video featured a soft side of Rihanna’s personality. A post-love affair look was perfectly packed in the visuals by the director Anthony Mandler.
Rihanna and Mandler are quite familiar with each other, having previously collaborated for the videos of ‘Russian Roulette’ and ‘Only Girl (In the World).’ Hence, their track record suggests that a working musical chemistry certainly exists between the two. During a recent interview with MTV News, Mandler talked about how he and RiRi discovered a brand new side of the singer’s ever-evolving personality in their latest joint venture.
