Seeing as it’s been almost 11 years since we’ve seen a Rolling Stones album, it’s only fitting that after their most recent drop “Blue and Lonesome”, another album might be on the way. The first album which only featured covers of other songs has already bolted to, and may hold a spot at #1 in the U.K, as they’ve done multiple times throughout their career. Even more impressive was that Blue & Lonesome was recorded in just three days.
With this one a week old, new information has suggested that the band is looking forward to Volume #2. Keith Richards tells The Guardian that the original album happened by accident, and the bulk of it was recorded in just two days. Also suggested was late keyboard player Ian Stewart was sending a message from above.
With new reports now suggesting that volume 2 is in the works, it leaves a lot up for discussion in terms of the material that may or may not be released. According to the band, they were also recording an entirely new album of material, which would conflict the reports of a second cover album to follow this one. In terms of rock ‘n roll, anything is possible, right?
It should also be noted that Mick Jagger just had his SEVENTH child — no word on if this will affect the band’s ability to create or finish an album.
