Lenny Kravitz

Leonard Albert "Lenny" Kravitz (born May 26, 1964) is an American rock singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, actor and arranger, whose "retro" style incorporates elements of rock, soul, R&B, funk, reggae, hard rock, psychedelic, folk and ballads. In addition to singing lead and backing vocals, Kravitz often played all the guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and percussion himself when recording. He is known for his elaborate stage performances and music videos.

He won the Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance four years in a row from 1999 to 2002, breaking the record for most wins in that category as well as setting the record for most consecutive wins in one category by a male. He has been nominated for and won other awards, including American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, Radio Music Awards, BRIT Awards and Blockbuster Entertainment Awards. On December 1, 2011, Kravitz was made an Officer of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. He plays the role of Cinna in the Hunger Games film series.

Kravitz was married to actress Lisa Bonet, who played Denise Huxtible on The Cosby Show.
They were married on November 17, 1987 when they took a vacation to Las Vegas. Lenny was 23, and Lisa was 19.
On December 1, 1988, Lisa gave birth to their only child, a daughter named Zoe Isabella.
Kravitz and Bonet separated in 1991, and their divorce was official in 1993.
He produces his own albums and plays most of the instruments himself.
His mother is Roxie Roker, who played Helen on the TV show The Jeffersons. She died in 1995.
When he started recording, he used the name Romeo Blue.
Kravitz is of mixed race. His father is Russian-Jewish NBC TV News reporter Sy Kravitz, his mother was African-American/Cherokee.
As a kid, he acted in commercials.
Lenny went to high school in the 90210 Zip Code, the school that inspired the show Beverly Hills, 90210. His classmates included Nicolas Cage, Gina Gershon and Slash.
He has a house in Miami with '60s retro decor, complete with a white, fur-lined tunnel. Visitors are asked to remove their shoes before entering.
For the sake of simplicity, he doesn't wear underwear.
In 2000, he was arrested when he fit the description of a bank robber. He left the house looking like a slob, and it was one of those days.
In 2001, Lenny released his 7th EP titled "Lenny" which reached number 12 on the Billboard charts and sold over 1 million copies in the US alone.
