Rascal Flatts

Rascal Flatts is an American country pop/country rock music group formed in Columbus, Ohio in 1999. The band is composed of Gary LeVox (lead vocals), Jay DeMarcus (bass guitar, keyboards, background vocals), and Joe Don Rooney (electric guitar, background vocals). LeVox and DeMarcus are second cousins, and DeMarcus is a brother-in-law of country singer James Otto.

From 2000 to 2010, they recorded for Disney Music Group's Lyric Street Records. While on that label, they released seven albums, all of which have been certified platinum or higher by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). In order of release, these albums are Rascal Flatts (2000), Melt (2002), Feels Like Today (2004), Me and My Gang (2006), Still Feels Good (2007), Greatest Hits Volume 1 (2008) and Unstoppable (2009). After Lyric Street closed in 2010, they moved to the independent Big Machine Records, releasing Nothing Like This in November 2010 and Changed in April 2012. Their ninth studio album, Rewind, was released in May 2014.

Their studio albums have accounted for 26 singles, all of which charted Top 20 or higher on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, including 12 which reached No. 1. Their longest-lasting No. 1 single, a cover of Marcus Hummon's "Bless the Broken Road", spent five weeks in that position in 2005. In 2005–06, "What Hurts The Most" was No. 1 on both the country and adult contemporary charts, and peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100.

At the 2007 American Music Awards, Rascal Flatts was chosen as the Favorite Band, Duo or Group for Country category.
In 2007 Rascal Flatts won the CMA award for Vocal Group of the Year and were nominated for Entertainer of the Year.

On their smash hit CD "Me And My Gang," the group helped write three of the songs. Joe Don helped write "Cool Thing," and Jay helped out on "To Make Her Love Me," while the whole group helped contribute to the hit "Pieces."
Rascal Flatts' CD "Me And My Gang" is already certified double platinum (2006).
When Rascal Flatts released "Me And My Gang" it made it debut in the number one spot on the Soundscan Top 200 albums chart.
In 2005, Rascal Flatts won BreakThrough Touring Act of The Year on the Billboard awards.
Rascal Flatts' "Here's to You" tour in 2005, broke all attendance records and made in the number 2 top tour in all of country music.
Rascal Flatts' CD "Feels Like Today" went quadruple platinum, and other CD’s "Melt" and their self titled album "Rascal Flatts" both went double platinum.
So far to date (2006), Rascal Flatts has sold more than 11 million CD’s in their career.
In 2005, Rascal Flatts CD "Feels Like Today" sold more than 2.5 million, making the best selling CD of the year in Country Music.
Rascal Flatts' hit "Bless the Broken Road" spent 10 weeks in the number one spot on the singles chart.
In 2005, Rascal Flatts was the most played country artist on the radio.
In 2005, Rascal Flatts won a Grammy award for the best Country Song of the Year for their smash hit "Bless the Broken Road."
Disney's animated movie Cars (2006) showcases Rascal Flatts singing "Life is a Highway".
In May 2005 Rascal Flatts appeared on American Idol and sung with Carrie Underwood.
Rascal Flatts performed at the Grand Ole Opry in November of 2005.
Rascal Flatts have become national spokesmen for the American Red Cross.
In September 2005 Rascal Flatts held a benefit at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, donations reached $600,000.00.
In 2005 Rascal Flatts won their first Radio Music Awards Song of the Year for Country Radio award for the song "Bless the Broken Road".

In 2005 Rascal Flatts went to Iraq to show support of the troops, their first USO Tour.

In 2001 Rascal Flatts was voted AMC’s New Vocal Group of the Year.
Jay DeMarcus convinced cousin Gary LeVox to leave his job working for the state of Ohio to follow is music career dreams.
In June 2005 Rascal Flatts performed a concert online, an exclusive for their fan club.
Jay DeMarcus plays guitar, bass, keyboards, and mandolin for the group.
Gary LeVox and Jay DeMarcus are second cousins.
They won Group of the Year at the CMA's for the second time in a row!
