Jerry Lee Lewis covered The Big Bopper's "Chantilly Lace."
The Big Bopper was portrayed by Gailard Sartain in The Buddy Holly Story and Stephen Lee in La Bamba.
His son, Jay P. Richardson, was inspired by his father to take a career in the music field. He performs at many Big Bopper tribute shows as "The Big Bopper, Jr."
There have been rumors concerning the death of The Big Bopper that after the plane crashed, The Big Bopper was the only survivor, and he tried to get help. However, the injuries he sustained from the crash caused him to die before he got too far. Recent autopsy reports have proven this to be false, and this rumor was started because his body was found 12 meters away from the plane, while the other victims of the crash were closer the the plane.
The Big Bopper's biggest hit was "Chantilly Lace."

Hello baby, yeah, this is the Big Bopper speaking
Oh you sweet thing
Do I what
Will I what
Oh baby you know what I like
Chantilly lace and a pretty face
And a pony tail hanging down
That wiggle in the walk and giggle in the talk
Makes the world go round
There ain't nothing in the world like a big eyed girl
That makes me act so funny, make me spend my money
Make me feel real loose like a long necked goose
Like a girl, oh baby that's what I like
What's that baby
But, but, but, oh honey
But, oh baby you know what I like
What's that honey
Pick you up at 8 and don't be late
But baby I ain't got no money honey
Oh alright baby you know what I like
