Stone Temple Pilots
- Stone Temple Pilots (commonly referred to as "STP") is a Grammy Award-winning American rock band consisting of Scott Weiland (lead vocals), brothers Robert (bass guitar, vocals) and Dean DeLeo (guitar), and Eric Kretz (drums, percussion).
- Weiland spent 5 months in jail in 1999 for violating probation after a heroin conviction. He was arrested on drug charges again in 2003 and served 6 months of rehab.
- Weiland has manic-depressive disorder. He refuses to take medication for it and has lots of mood swings as a result.
- The band originally went by STP, but got into some legal trouble from using the name (STP is a brand of engine treatment). They came up with three words to use instead, which at first were Shirley Temple's P--sy. They eventually changed it to Stone Temple Pilots.
- The band found immediate success with the release of their debut album Core in 1992, which was certified 8× platinum by the RIAA.
- In 1993, the band won a Grammy for "Best Hard Rock Performance" for their song "Plush". Stone Temple Pilots were also ranked at number 40 on VH1's The 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock.
