Faheem Rasheed Najm (born September 30, 1985 in Tallahassee, Florida), better known by his stage name T-Pain, is a prolific American singer. At the age of ten he turned his bedroom into a small studio with a keyboard, beat machine and four-track recorder, and he began his career as a rapper in the group Nappy Headz. In 2005 he released his debut album Rappa Ternt Sanga, and has since released 2007’s Epiphany and 2008’s Thr33 Ringz.
The “T” in T-Pain stands for Tallahassee, and the ‘Pain’ means the pain trying to get out of Tallahassee. T-Pain has had over 10 top ten singles on Billboard Hot 100, and in 2008 he won a Grammy with rapper Kanye West for the single “Good Life”.

Tallahassee-based MC and vocalist T-Pain (born Faheem Najm) came up in a rap group called Nappy Headz but went pro as a solo R&B artist after he recorded "I'm F**ked Up," a personal take on Akon's Top Ten hit "Locked Up." Akon heard the track and took T-Pain under his wing with a contract on his Jive-distributed Konvict Muzik label. Produced and written mostly by T-Pain, Rappa Ternt Sanga was released in December 2005, led by the Top 20 single "I'm Sprung." Epiphany followed in June 2007. His 2008 album, Thr33 Ringz, was conceptually based around the circus and played up the singer's "Ringleader Man" persona. rEvolver, which followed in 2011, was another conceptual effort, this time putting the focus on how much T-Pain had evolved since his previous effort.
He is featued in the song Migrate by Mariah Carey.
He had the song I'm Sprung ghostwritten for a girl named Amber who he later married.
In the Grammy Awards 2008, T-Pain was nominated for "Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group (Bartender)" and "Best Rap Song (Good Life). He was also nominated for "Best Rap/Sung Collaboration (Good Life) and "Best Rap/Sung Collaboration (Kiss Kiss).
T-Pain is noted for using a vocoder in his singing.
T-Pain was nominated in the American Music Awards 2007 in "Favorite Male Artist."
In 2002, he founded his own label, Hard & B, and soon caught the spotlight as a solo artist when his song I'm F*****d Up, a reworked version of Akon's Locked Up. Akon noticed the song, and signed him to his label, Konvict Musik.
