By 2004, Howard released her third album The Second Coming on Rufftown Records. A video for the first single, "Nasty Grind", played on BET during early morning hours. The album sold poorly due to lack of promotion and only managed to gather 40,000 copies on store shelves and she was later sued by the label. A second single, "(Outside) The Club" was slated to be released, along with a remix album The Second Coming: Remixed & UnCut but both were cancelled following her departure from the label.
Later that year, she collaborated with Play-N-Skillz and Krayzie Bone for the track "Freaks" which sampled her hit single "Freak Like Me." The single appeared on the Play-N-Skillz album The Process and became a hit, peaking at #52 R&B and #69 on the Hot 100 (her first-charting single in 7 years).
She released an official mixtape album (with DJ RIP) featuring new songs, remixes, and unreleased tracks titled Let You Hit through SoundJewelz.com on August 5, 2005.
Grand Rapids, MI, native Adina Howard became a national sensation with the funky R&B of her platinum debut album, 1995's Do You Wanna Ride, and its single, "Freak Like Me."
Let me lay it on the line
I got a little freakiness inside
And you know that the man
Has got to deal with it
I don't care what they say
I'm not about to pay nobody's way
'Cause it's all about the dog in me
1-I want to freak in the morning
A freak in the evening just like me
I need a roughneck brother
That can satisfy me just for me
If you are that kind of man
'cuz i'm that kind of girl
I got a freaky secret,everybody sing
'cause we don't give a damn about a thing
'cause I will be a freak
until the day until the dawn
and we can pump, pump
all through the night till the early morn
come on and I will take you
around the 'hood on a gangsta lean
'cause we can pump, pump
any time of day it's all good for me
Boy, you're moving kind of slow
You got to keep it up
Now there you go
There's just one thing that a man must do
I'm packing all the flavor you need
I got you shook up on your knees
'cause it's all about the dog in me
One to the two, to the two, to the three
Adina, do you want to get freaky with me?..
