Keith Sweat

Keith Sweat was born in Crescent City, Florida. He is the son of hairdresser Juanita Sweat and factory worker Charles Crier. Charles died in 1973, and Juanita raised their five children alone. He worked as a night stock boy at Macy's and then a mailroom clerk at Paine Webber. In just four years he worked his way up to a lucrative brokerage assistant job on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. Sweat worked for the commodities market in the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Sweat sang at nightclubs throughout New York City until he was discovered and offered a recording contract with Elektra Records in 1987.

He has three daughters, Keyshia (1990) and Keia (1992)Amaya (1999) . He named his record label, Keia Entertainment, after his younger daughter. From 1992 until 2002, he was married to Real Housewives of Atlanta co-star Lisa Wu Hartwell. With her, he had sons Jordan (1995) and Justin (1998).

Keith's uncle was also the late Keith "Sabu" Crier of the disco/R&B group GQ.

Keith would like to star in a movie, and has read many scripts, but hasn't found 'the one'.
Keith collaberated and recorded 'He Say, She Say' with T-Boz of the rap group TLC. He considers their styles similar, and thought that they would be a winning combination.
Keith would like to do duets with: Mary J. Blige, Ashanti, Avante, and Joe.
Keith's musical influences are: Charlie Wilson of The Gap Band, Ronald Isley, and Stevie Wonder.
Keith branched out to other business ventures, and owns a successful nightclub in Atlanta, Georgia, as well as an elite luxury hotel, called Hotel S.
Keith, Johnny Gill, and Gerald Levert released their self-titled debut in 1997, Levert. Sweat. Gill.. Their single 'My Body' burned up the record charts as #1 for 6 weeks.
Keith discovered the R & B groups Silk, and the female group Kut Klose. He was also the founder of LSG, with Gerald Levert and Johnny Gill.
Keith released album # 9, Rebirth on August 13, 2002. One track charted on the Billboard Hot 100 at #75, 'One on One'.
Keith's popularity began to subside in 2000, his album Didn't See Me Coming failed to produce a single top 40 hit.
Keith's most popular album was his fifth, released in 1996. It was self titled Keith Sweat, and debuted at #5 on the Billboard Hot 200 charts. His hit singles, 'Twisted' debuted as #2, and 'Nobody' hit at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Keith's fourth album was released in the summer of 1994, it was titled Get Up On It. He was then listed in Rolling Stone magazine as the next Gerald Levert.
Keith's second album I'll Give All My Love To You, debuted at #6 on the Billboard 200 music charts in 1990. He based his songs on the problems of his friends, instead of his own personal experiences.
Keith released his debut album Make It Last Forever, on November 25, 1987. Make It Last Forever sold over 3 million copies.
Keith started his success as a singer in 1975, as a member of a well-known band in Harlem called Jamiah, started by Larry Peebles. They played throughout New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
Keith sang at nightclubs throughout New York City until he was discovered and offered a recording contract with Elektra Records in 1987.
Keith worked for the commodities market in the New York mercantile exchange, before making it in the music business.
